Healthy & Delicious | 5 Ingredient Paleo Lamington Bliss Ball Recipe

Healthy & Delicious | 5 Ingredient Paleo Lamington Bliss Ball Recipe

In a world dominated by convenience, store-bought bliss balls have become a popular go-to snack. However, many commercial options often rely heavily on dates, leading to a significant sugar hit that might not align with everyone's health goals.

Enter our Lamington Bliss Balls – a delicious alternative that not only satisfies your sweet cravings but also packs a punch of health benefits.

I always recommend high-protein snacks to keep you full. These are higher in natural fats and carbohydrates than I would recommend for an everyday snack, but they are a delicious treat! They are also absolutely brilliant for children if you want to give your little ones something a little better than the supermarket's finest.

So, Healthy & Delicious 5 Ingredient Paleo Lamington Bliss Ball Recipe... here we come.

Unlike their commercial counterparts, these bliss balls boast a unique combination of ingredients, each chosen for its exceptional nutritional profile. Let's take a closer look at the health benefits these wholesome components bring to the table:

Almond Butter

Rich in healthy monounsaturated fats, almond butter provides a dose of heart-healthy nutrients. It's also a good source of protein, making these bliss balls a satisfying and energy-boosting snack.

Coconut Flour

Low in carbohydrates and high in fibre, coconut flour not only adds a delightful texture to the bliss balls but also contributes to a feeling of fullness. Additionally, it's gluten-free, making this recipe suitable for those with gluten sensitivities.

Raw Cacao Powder

Packed with antioxidants, raw cacao powder not only adds a rich chocolatey flavour but also offers potential health benefits. It may support heart health, improve mood, and provide a natural energy boost.

Honey or Maple Syrup

The sweeteners in this recipe add natural sweetness without the need for refined sugars. Honey and maple syrup contain antioxidants and have potential anti-inflammatory properties. I love Forage & Gold or local New Zealand honey if supporting local is important to you! Or maple syrup creates a more round flavour in the mouth if you have a really sweet tooth.

Coconut Flakes

The coconut flakes coating not only provides a classic Lamington flavour but also brings healthy fats to the mix. Coconut is known for its medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs), which are easily metabolised for a quick energy source.

By choosing these nutrient-dense ingredients, you can indulge in a sweet treat without compromising your health goals. These Lamington Bliss Balls are a delightful blend of flavours, textures, and wholesome goodness. Enjoy the guilt-free pleasure of a sweet snack that nourishes your body and satisfies your taste buds.

Lamington Bliss Balls

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup almond butter

  • 1/2 cup coconut flour

  • 3 tablespoons raw cacao powder

  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup

  • Coconut flakes for coating

Optional but delicious: add cinnamon to create sweetness and balance your blood sugar levels.

Instructions:

Mix Dry Ingredients:

In a mixing bowl, combine coconut flour and cacao powder. Mix well to ensure even distribution.

Add Wet Ingredients:

Add almond butter and honey (or maple syrup) to the dry ingredients. Mix until a thick dough forms.

Adjust Consistency:

If the mixture seems too dry, you can add a bit more almond butter or honey. If it's too wet, add a touch more coconut flour until you achieve a dough that can be easily shaped.

Shape into Balls:

Take small portions of the mixture and roll them into bite-sized balls using your hands. Aim for uniform size for even coating.

Prepare Coconut Coating:

Place the coconut flakes in a shallow bowl. Roll each bliss ball in the coconut flakes, ensuring they are evenly coated. You can press the coconut onto the surface of the balls to help it adhere.

Chill:

Place the coconut-coated bliss balls on a plate or tray and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm them up.

Serve:

Once chilled, your Lamington Bliss Balls are ready to be enjoyed! These delicious, coconut-coated treats are reminiscent of lamingtons, but in a healthier bliss ball form.

Feel free to get creative and adjust the sweetness or add a touch of vanilla extract for extra flavour. Enjoy guys.
