On Our University Diet Attempts 💁🏼♀️💁🏻♀️
We Can Laugh Now…
But s**t did we go through years of pain.
Trying everything.
👉🏼Avoiding fat like the plague.
👉🏼Cutting the fat off meat.
👉🏼Eating everything that had no fat… cereal, pasta, rice, low fat yoghurt, haribo… (Just me?)
What we didn’t realise
We were chronically underrating both protein and fat in a bid to lose weight.
Avoiding these foods left us starving, always hunger, reaching for the next 'low fat' sugary treat we could put in our mouths.
The Problem With Eating No Protein
Protein is amazing for your hormones and keeps you incredibly full, throughout the day. Especially when eaten in the morning. It is incredible for fat loss (if that is your goal) among the other great benefits.
The Problem With Eating No Fat
Fat is also incredibly good for you and helps you teach your body that fat is a preferred fuel source.
Meanwhile, the excess glucose (carbs + sugar) we were eating (because they were low fat), was being processed by the liver and stored as body fat 🤦🏼♀️
Big fail.
Can anyone else relate?
Tell me your worst diet fails... I'd love to know.
Ask either of us: what we believed and what we know now.
